I finally made a homemade Rosary
It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while….make my own rosary. I’ve made some before which didn’t last long and looked pretty awful. But the one I made this evening turned out OK for a first serious attempt, I think.
Here is a picture of it:

I just used wooden beads and some centerpieces and crucifixes that can be bought in bulk here.
I didn’t want to invest too much early on just in case it was something that I quickly discovered was not for me. Fortunately, I really enjoyed making it although there may have been some less than reverent expressions as I was attempting to negotiate with the knots. I would like to think the Hail Marys I offered while making it outnumbered them though.
Next Steps
When I first started this site, I had as one of my goals to provide a product or service and I am currently exploring offering homemade rosaries once I make a few more as practice to help ensure I’m offering a quality product. I’ve had more rosaries than I can count that have broken at inopportune times creating a cascade of beads onto tiled church floors in the middle of adoration or some other inconvenient time.
